Handing in samples

Where a clinician requests that patient hands in a sample (e.g. urine / stool etc) then please ensure they are delivered to the Practice by 2.30pm at the latest.  This is because the NHS Lothian Lab Van collects from the Practice a short time thereafter.  If deposited after 2.30pm, the patient may be required to provide a new sample if the lab van is missed.

Samples must be endorsed with the patient’s name, date of birth and date/time the sample was taken.  Samples that don’t contain this information will regrettably have to be discarded.  Please ensure reception staff are aware of your sample being left in the sample box to the left of the reception desk in order that the sample can be added to the appropriate receptacle for collection.
